DAIL-UP SETUP

If your DSL goes down, your entire system will be down. Dial-up access will get at least one register back up and running, with the added benefit that your credit cards will continue to authorize at internet speed. Do the setup now! it'll be too late if your store is full of people waiting to check out.

Here's how you set it up.

* Telephone line hookup:

All POS workstations come with modems. You should have them hooked up to a live telephone line. A separate line will be required for each POS station. If this hasn't been done, call someone to run the cables.

* DIAL-UP ACCOUNT:

Call your DSL ISP, and ask them to give you a dial-up account. They will give you the following:

· An account Name
· Your password
· Phone Number the modem will dial

Most ISP'S will assist you with the dial-up setups. By all means ASK, and take them up on the assistance. Then do the AlphaCom setups below. If they won't help, instructions are below:

* WHAT YOU DO IF YOUR DSL GOES DOWN:

If your DSL goes down, Windows will pop-up a small window asking if you want to use a new account.

Before you click Yes, make sure all your workstations cannot access the internet. If they can, then your problem may be your workstation, and re-booting it will be the quickest way to solve the problem.

If they can't then your DSL is down. The first thing you should do is turn your router off, wait 5 seconds, and turn it back on. Give it a few minutes to boot up. Watch the DSL light. Generally they will blink while they connect up to the main station, and when it's ready, the light should be solid.

Check to see if the system is back up. If not, call your ISP to report the outtage, and go to dialup.

To start Counterpoint, use the Counterpoint Dial-Up Icon.

There will be no difference running the POS.
